Liz Wilt

July 28, 1930 — April 10, 2022

Mary Elizabeth "Liz" Wilt, 91, of Kansas City, passed peacefully on April 10, 2022 at her home at McCrite Plaza in Kansas City.

Liz was born on July 28, 1930, the daughter of Richard F. and Willie Ben (Maupin) Taylor in Shelbina, Missouri. She graduated from Shelbina High School in 1948. Upon graduation, she attended Blessing Hospital School of Nursing in Quincy, Illinois where she earned her RN degree in 1951.

Liz was united in marriage to William L. Wilt on September 23, 1951. They celebrated 69 years of marriage before Bill's passing in 2020. They had two daughters, Ann and Sandra, and spent most of their married life in Brookfield, Missouri, where Liz worked as a nurse at Pershing Memorial Hospital until her retirement in 1981. Liz and Bill moved to Kansas City in 2011 to be close to their family.

Liz's life was centered around her family and her passion for caring for others. She often opened her home to others in their time of need. She was a member of the Brookfield First Christian Church and enjoyed assisting in functions at the church.

Liz is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Don Brown of Kansas City; sister-in-law, Joyce Taylor; along with her beloved nieces and nephews that she loved as her own. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; daughter, Sandra Bowser; sister, Charlotte Perry; brother, Richard F. Taylor; and her parents.

Liz was blessed to have a wonderful group of caregivers. Team Liz (Stephanie, Danielle, Kyle, Rachel, and Erin) shared their love and care with her on a daily basis.

Arrangements are by Terrace Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 801 NW 108th Street, Kansas City, MO 64155. A celebration of life for Liz and Bill will be held at a later date, but the family would like to share some pictures of Liz's life. The link can be found on the Terrace Park Funeral Home website.

Memorial contributions can be sent to First Christian Church Abiding Memorial Fund, 1416 N Main Street, Brookfield, MO 64628, or, Kansas City Hospice and Palliative Care at 9001 State Line Road, Suite 300, Kansas City, MO 64114.
