Millie Stephens

Millie Jean Stephens, 83 of Kansas City, MO passed away on May 5, 2020.  Millie was born March 27, 1937 in Gallatin, MO to Charles Owen Walton and Doris Marie (Blackburn) Walton.  She graduated from Gallatin High School in 1955.  Millie worked for a few years as a secretary before she married Russel C. Stephens, Jr. on May 26, 1957 in Gallatin MO.  Russel and Millie settled in the Kansas City, MO area immediately after they were married.   Millie became a born again Christian in the early 1970’s and was very active in Lifebridge Baptist Church (formerly Glenwood Baptist Temple) where she was a kindergarten Sunday school teacher, a choir member, and also sang solos at church services. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, baking wedding cakes, gardening, watching game shows and was also an avid Kansas City Chiefs and Royals fan.  Millie is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Russel C Stephens, her son, Craig C Stephens, and her two brothers, Charles Conrad Walton, and Jerry Walton.  She is survived by three children and spouses: Kevin (LaDonna), Doug (Karen) and Debbie (Jeff) Herbert:  grandchildren, Austin, Jillian, Rhiannon, Jonathan and Aaron and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A public visitation adhering to the 10/10/10 city mandate will be held on Saturday, May 16th from 10-11am at Terrace Park Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be private but will be livestreamed at www.terraceparkfuneralhome.com.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association.
