Nora Jane Stockinger, gained her Heavenly wings on April 13, 2021. Nora was born on May 8, 2020 in Kansas City, Kansas to parents Brian Stockinger and Mary Sciortino. Though she was born premature and was small enough to fit in the palm of her parents' hands, she was a fighter from day one. A precious miracle, she astonished and amazed all of the NICU teams who cared for her. She instantly won the hearts of those who knew her or knew her story and was given numerous endearing nicknames, such as The Pineapple Princess, angel, sweet pea, chipmunk and many others. Even though she was unable to leave the hospital she enjoyed countless special moments with those who loved her. She met her big brother, Emmett, for the first time on his birthday, Halloween, and the whole family was dressed up in their costumes; it was a most special day for them all. Nora was always at her mother’s side as Mary worked from her hospital room day in and day out. Nora's journey and story was chronicled so that all could share in her life -

Nora will be forever remembered and greatly missed by her parents; brother, Emmett; grandparents, Joseph and Monica Sciortino of Council Bluffs, IA and Gregory and Linda Stockinger of Pompton Plains, NJ; aunts and uncles, Kathleen and Neil Schmedding, Arthur and Megan Sciortino, Katie and Mark Kittle, and Jenny and Gregory Junice; cousins Joseph and Henry Schmedding, Eva and Vera Sciortino, Carson Kittle, and Liam Junice.

A visitation will be held at Terrace Park Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 21st from 4:00 PM to 8:00PM. A time for praying the Rosary and sharing remembrances will begin at 4:15PM and will be available to watch via live stream/recording at

A funeral mass will follow on Thursday, April 22nd at 9:30 AM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Redemptorist Church (3333 Broadway Blvd, Kansas City, MO 64111) and will also be available to watch via live stream/recording at

A celebration of life will also be held in Council Bluffs, IA at a future date.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made directly to the family or through Nora Jane's Legacy Fund to continue Nora Jane's legacy and memory.

The below passage was written by Nora's parents on the day they shared the news of her passing:

It is with the heaviest of hearts that Brian and I share the loss of our incredibly strong, resilient and beautiful daughter, Nora Jane on April 13th. To say that she was loved is an understatement. Anyone who met Nora, loved her with all of their hearts. Even those who never met her or our family loved her, and she touched people from all over the world.

Our hearts are shattered into a million pieces but there is some solace knowing that Nora’s legacy will forever live on through the stories of her strength and courage, as well as organ donation that may help 2-3 other children in need of heart valves.

Her short 11 months and 5 days on Earth were more impactful than multiple lifetimes. She is a perfect angel, completely innocent and shined a light on the world that was brighter than any seen before. To know her story is truly to know love and endurance and strength. She gave more to the people she impacted than we could ever hope to give back, yet in giving her our all she was blessed with immeasurable support. Her life was the definition of unconditional love. A love that will live forever, as will her spirit.

We cannot thank the staff at KU and CMH NICUs enough for loving our daughter as their own and giving her the best care possible. We are so grateful to have gained a family in both places that embraced us all and have supported us through this unimaginable tragedy.

Nora’s fight was long and difficult, filled with countless highs and lows, yet her life was so much more than that, bursting with indescribable beauty. She is now resting and at peace, and we will carry her with us forever until we hold her again.

Honor and light, our gracious gift from God.

You are our sunshine...

I’ll love you forever
I’ll like you for always
As long as I’m living
My baby you’ll be
