William Earl Blowers

June 14, 1933 ~ August 13, 2020 (age 87)

Obituary

William Earl Blowers, Jr went to be with Jesus on August 13, 2020.  William, Bill, to his friends, was born June 14, 1933 to William and Marguerite Blowers, Sr.

Bill attended Paseo High School, where he lettered in Track/Field and Football.  Upon graduation, he declined a football scholarship to Oklahoma State and went to work at Trans World Airlines in the Fleet Services Department.  Bill took leave from TWA to serve his country during the Korean War.  While stationed in Germany, his sister suggested he write to a cute young nurse she had started working with at the hospital named Ada Guffey.  This was the beginning of their love story. Bill and Ada married on September 22, 1957,and their union brought about 2 sons.  Bill loved to camp and was very active with his sons in the Boy Scouts of America.  He was Scoutmaster of Troop 271.   His love of camping led to being a member of the Winnebago International Travelers Club.  He loved attending the Winnebago Rallies and the people he met there.  Upon retirement from TWA, where he had worked his way up to Mechanic, he and Ada spent their winters in South Texas in their Winnebago Motorhome.  Summers, when not camping, found Bill at Gene's Glass Shop in Riverside, MO or his personal glass shop in his basement, designing beautiful stained glass art.  Bill was an active member of Barry Christian Church and loved helping with the Annual Turkey Dinner held there.  The last few years Bill and Ada made their home in Tyler, TX to be closer to their sons.  Bill did not remain idle in his retirement home, but kept his hands busy carving many beautiful canes and walking sticks and lovingly caring for his wife as she struggled with dementia.

Bill is preceded in death by his parents, William and Marguerite Blowers, Sr., his sister Elizabeth Joyce Hahn and his beloved wife Ada Ruth (Guffey) Blowers.

Bill leaves a legacy of two sons, Dennis Franklin Blowers (Lisa) of Orange, TX and Alan William Blowers (Mendy) of The Colony, TX, 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
